Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Mello ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information. Mello is designed to be private by default: it works entirely on your device, requires no account, and does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
1. Data We Collect
We do not collect any data. Mello has no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind. The app does not use the internet.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
The information you enter in Mello is stored only in the app's private storage on your own device. This includes:
- Your daily mood selections and the dates they were recorded
- Optional notes you attach to a day
- App preferences such as reminder time, reminder weekdays, and theme choice
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share or export it (see Section 4). We have no access to it.
3. Permissions the App Uses
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — used only to show the optional daily reminder you configure. You can decline this permission or disable reminders at any time; the app remains fully functional.
- Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — used only to re-schedule your daily reminder after the device restarts or the system time/timezone changes. No data is read or collected.
4. Sharing and Export
Mello lets you share a mood-pattern image (PNG) or export your entries as a CSV file through the Android share sheet. Sharing happens only when you initiate it, and the destination (for example a messaging or email app you choose) is entirely under your control. Once shared, the data is governed by the receiving app's own privacy policy.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual entries, or erase all data at once using Settings → Delete all data inside the app. Uninstalling the app also permanently removes all of its data from your device. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on any server.
6. Children's Privacy
Mello does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app contains no ads, no in-app purchases, and no social features.
7. Security
Your data is stored in the app's private, sandboxed storage provided by Android, which is inaccessible to other apps under normal system protections. Because no data is transmitted, there is no network exposure.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we ever change how Mello handles data, we will update this policy and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's update notes.
